He passed the first interview, the director did the last interview, made the last decision. The director discovered from the CV that the youth’s academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, Never had a year when he did not score.
The director asked, “Did you obtain any scholarships in school?” The youth answered “none”.
The director asked, “Was it your father who paid for your school fees?” The youth answered, “My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees”.
The director asked, “Where did your mother work?” The youth answered, “My mother worked as clothes cleaner. The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect”.
The director asked, “Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?” The youth answered, “Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me”.
The director said, “I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother’s hands, and then see me tomorrow morning”.
The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid. The youth cleaned his mother’s hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother’s hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water.
This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother’s hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future. After finishing the cleaning of his mother’s hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother. That night, mother and son talked for a very long time. Next morning, the youth went to the director’s office.
The Director noticed the tears in the youth’s eyes, asked: “Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?” The youth answered, “I cleaned my mother’s hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes”.
The Director asked, “please tell me your feelings”. The youth said, “Number 1, I know now what is appreciation. Without my mother, there would not the successful me today. Number 2, By working together and helping my mother, only I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done. Number 3, I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship”.

The director said, “This is what I am looking for to be my manager. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired”. Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and as a team. The company’s performance improved tremendously.
Moral: If one doesn’t understand and experience the difficulty it takes to earn the comfort provided by their loved ones, than they will never value it. The most important thing is to experience the difficulty and learn to value hard work behind all the given comfort.

Besides Special Assemblies and Inter-House events and competitions, our school is also well-connected to other C.B.S.E. and International Schools in the region, regularly partnering with them to enable our students to access wider platforms to participate and excel in. Through the C.B.S.E., Edify offers both students of the secondary, and the senior secondary, a balanced curriculum that values national learning goals, a global perspective as well as personal growth. The C.B.S.E. curriculum at Edify thoroughly prepares our students for continued academic and professional excellence by cultivating ‘habits of the mind’.
Perfecting Pedagogy
Edify’s learner-centered pedagogy echoes C.B.S.E.’s student centered approach in all its scope. Our pedagogical approach and teaching strategies are spear-headed by our extensively trained teachers who regularly attend both C.B.S.E. and in-house workshops to further their professional development.
This love for life-long learning is passed on to our students who grow to be passionate about their choice of subjects, and develop a deep curiosity for the world around them. Academic excellence is highly valued in Edify, with plenty of emphasis on opportunities for hands-on and experiential learning. World Class amenities, Learning Laboratories, Field Trips to places relevant to the subject area being explored and Creative Learning Projects all help bring the curriculum to life in Edify.
Our boarders also enjoy a year-round series of workshops on ‘Creative and Critical Thinking’. The sessions conducted are on a host of topics such as short story writing, improvisational theatre, image and film analysis, philosophical thought experiments, alternative poetry, creating and illustrating flip books, origami and craft. Personality Development Workshops are also conducted from time to time.
Our students are also challenged to grow their talents and abilities through intra-group events and competitions these include sporting events like football, basketball, volleyball, cricket, cross country and athletics. Other events that are organized include fiercely contested competitions for Mad Ads, Extempore and Antakshari. As a home away from home, the residence also celebrates national and regional festivals with great gusto and festive spirit. Regular boarders-meets, parent visits and outings also add color and meaning to the life at the residence.
Post-dinner our students typically unwind in the recreation area in the club room, choosing from games such as billiards, table-tennis, foosball and indoor games such as darts, carroms, chess and other board games. They are also provided with access to the cyber lab to meet their internet needs and connect to the online world. TV-time as well as reading from the wide selection of books housed in the hostel library are also immensely popular with our residential students.
Guided Study
One of the most enriching aspects of life in the residence is the evening study time in which students have guided study sessions under the able instruction of our experienced residential teachers, who make every effort to give each child individual attention and help them work on areas they may find challenging. Our students make the best use of these study hours and use them to propel themselves towards their academic goals.

The reason for laying emphasis on students taking up sports is that it will lead to well rounded education for the students. Edify Schools offer facilities for Tennis, Cricket, Basketball, Swimming, Roller Skating, Yoga, Karate, Badminton, Football, Hockey and Adventure Sports. The Sports departments comprise of National and State level coaches who get together to identify individual sporting talents of students in various disciplines and then impart professional, scientific training to students.
It is an ideal situation where students and teachers can bond outside the classroom and where new educational environments and experiences are possible. Students have the opportunity to observe many things that are not available at school, including exotic wildlife, rare plants and maybe even the stars if the Educational Tours is to a planetarium. The Educational Tours are discussed beforehand because it allows students to know what they will experience during their time away from school.
Getting away from the everyday atmosphere of the classroom gives students an opportunity to spend time with each other in a new environment. They are able to connect on more of a personal level without the structure of the normal school day. Students are able to spend much of the educational tour days in small groups, observing, chatting and learning about each other. Having an Educational Tour allows students to bond with classmates they don’t know very well. Part of how students benefit from educational tours is by gaining new perspectives on the world.
This is especially true for more extensive Educational Tours where students travel farther away from home. By coming into direct contact with a different environment or even a new culture or language, students of Edify Schools can understand their place better in the community and develop openness to differences in others.
